We had the most wonderful time on our fieldtrip to Willis Farms! Once again, Thanks to all of you parents who helped, I couldn't have done it without you!
This week will be our Halloween Party. This Friday is Early Release and we will be having our party then. Children are welcome to dress up, but please no masks or gory makeup. I can't wait to see all the costumes!
We are reading the story "Bugs!" this week and will be making spiders and creepy, crawly bugs. Our spelling words are:
bugs
big
where
fat
it
Our spelling test will be on Thursday because of our party on Friday. Please continue helping your child study their words. Also continue to read, read, read. Reading nursery rhymes is especially helpful in helping your child on their road to reading so get a big book of Mother Goose and enjoy these with your child. We study one rhyme a week so we have learned quite a few of them. Ask your child which ones they know. You might be surprised!
Thanks again, you are wonderful parents and I appreciate all you do.

October 19-23

Dear Parents,
I can't believe I forgot my camera the day of the field trip!!!!! How could I do that! It was a beautiful, fun day and we were completely worn out by the time we got back!
This week we will be looking forward to our field trip to Willis Farms on Wednesday. If you still need to send in permission slips or money for that please do so by Monday or I will have to assume that your child is not going to join us. Maybe this time I won't forget my camera! If you are planning on joining us please plan on driving your own car over as we are only taking 2 buses for 6 classes, it is going to be crowded!
We will be reading the book "Pumpkin, Pumpkin" again this week and our spelling words remain the same:
grew
seed
and
put
in
Homework also remains the same, reading and spelling words.
Jadea will be our special person this week and we can't wait to hear from her. Thanks to Cassie who did a GREAT job last week as special person. She has a great Care Bear collection!
Okay, thanks again for all you do. I love your children, they are pretty cute!

October12-16

Dear Parents,
We have a very busy week ahead. Monday will be filled with all sorts of Columbus Day activities, Tuesday and Wednesday will be Early Release Days, Thursday is our Field Trip to Greer, and Friday is the deadline for permission slips and money for our Field Trip to Willis Farms in Snowflake.
We will be reading a book called "Pumpkin, Pumpkin" and our spelling words will be:
seed
grew
and
put
in
Since we will have such a busy week, with a lot of activities taking us out of the classroom we will be reading this book for 2 weeks and keep our spelling words or the same amount of time.
Thanks to Liz for being our Special Person last week, you did a great job! It's Cassie's turn this week so we will have fun learning all about you!
I am getting ready to send our soldier another box if anyone wants to send him anything. I'm sure he would love it.
Thanks again for all your support, you are all wonderful parents!

October 5-9

Dear Parents,
I have failed to thank all of you lately for all of your kind and thoughtful donations for our soldier, Bryan. You are all so kind and generous and I know he is very grateful for you all.
We had a fun Homecoming week and learned all about Adam who was our Special Person. We are looking forward to learning all about our Liz this week.
We will be reading a book called “The Chick and the Duckling”, a good story about two friends. Please continue reading with your children nightly. We are really beginning to read now and I can tell which students have had lots of help at home. Thanks for that!
Everyone did very well on our Spelling Test last week. Our spelling words this week will be:
Am
Came
He
Me
Said
Please practice nightly so we will be ready for a test on Friday.
Next week will bring two Early Release Days on the 13th and 14th, this is to assist those teachers who need more time for Parent Teacher Conferences, and time for filling out report cards. We have finished our Conferences so no need to worry about that. Please make arrangements for your children on these days, as we are the only school with Early Release I believe. On the 15th our class and Mrs. Oldham’s class will go on a field trip to Greer Lakes, look for a permission slip later this week.
Thank you for all of your help.
