It's A Romney Win!

After a long, drawn out campaign, Mrs. Hamblin's class calls Mitt Romney as our new President.  We have enjoyed learning about the Government and the voting process.

Vote!

Please go vote today and take your child!

Please go vote, and take your child with you!  We have been learning so much about our candidates and we will be having our own election on Tuesday right along with the rest of the country.  So, please take your child with you so they can see how it is really done.  And then, talk about why you chose your candidate.

All these kids are so cute!!

Hi everyone,

This week is Parent Teacher Conferences.  Please let me know if you can't make it and we will reschedule.  I would love to meet with each of you!  You have such great kids!

We will also be going to the Pumpkin Patch on Thursday.  Please look for the permission slip in your child's backpack!  Wouldn't want anyone to miss out.  We will leave the school at 1:30, go to the Pumpkin Patch (same place as last year when you went with the Kindergarten) and then we will go to the Park for snacks.  Please send a snack and a drink in a sack lunch for your child to enjoy at the park.  We will return to the school at 3:00.  If you would like to take your child home from the park please let me know.

Since we are going to the Pumpkin Patch we will be learning all about pumpkins this week, and bats!  Don't know why that is so cool, but they always seem to love it!

Please check your newsletter to see what spelling words your child should be studying this week.

If you have any questions about anything, or if you just want to visit please let me know.  I always love to visit with you.

Private Lindsey

Our Soldier came for a visit today!  We were so glad to finally meet him and have him tell us where he will be and what he will be doing.  Private Lindsey will be stationed in Texas and will be serving as a Military Police.
Here are some pictures
Private Lindsey is telling us what he does in the Military.

We are pretty impressed with him!

Private Lindsey is teaching us how to stand at attention.

Here he is teaching how to stand "at ease"

And now he is teaching us how to salute.

I think he has a bunch of new fans!

 Pretty cute!

We salute you Private Lindsey!  Thank you for coming!!!

Sept. 4-6

We had the BEST week last week.  Thank you to Mrs. Pena for coming in and teaching us a neat way that apples can be eaten!  We LOVED that.  On Thursday we were able to smell apples cooking all day and then in the afternoon we learned that apples can be made into applesauce.  Most of us liked eating it, but it wasn't for everyone.

After we ate our applesauce we got to paint apple tree pictures, here are just a few of us painting.  How cute is this?!

This week we will learn about our 5 senses and keep reviewing our reading and math skills.
Please don't forget about our Open House on the 11th.  We have some very important things to discuss.  Hope to see you there!

August 27-30

Hi Everyone!
What a great job you are all doing!  I was so encouraged today to read with your children!  I could really tell that they have been working on their sight words.  Thanks for your help.  It takes all of us.

This week we will be learning blending and reading words, counting up to and back from 20, review 2 D shapes (learning the words vertex and vertices, yeiks!  These guys are so smart, they will have it down by the end of the week) and Apples.  Tuesday Ryan's mom will be coming in to teach us a little about apples and on Thursday afternoon we will be making and eating applesauce!  mmmmm

I found my camera! Yay!  Now if I can just remember to take it to school with me!

I really need help in the afternoons between 2:15 and 3:00.  One or two parents a day would be awesome!

Thanks for everything.  Don't forget our Open House on September 11th.  We will be going over classroom expectations, our handbook and Beyond Textbooks.  PLEASE try to make it!  Thanks!

Please call me if you need anything!

Monday 20 August 2012

One week down!  This new schedule is sure hard on these little guys.  Can you just imagine going from 2 hours of school to 7?  These guys are hungry by 9:00 in the morning, again at 1:30 and then again at 3:30.  We are trying to take breaks and ease our way into the full load.  Thank you to all of you who sent in snacks.  That will really help these guys!

This week we will be doing lots of counting, learning all about picking  an appropriate book, reading sight words and studying our spelling words.  We will have a spelling test Thursday morning so please help your child study.  (spelling words came home in our newsletter tonight).

It looks like I will be needing help Monday - Wednesday from 2:15-3:00.  We will be having a Reteach and Enrich time where we will be working on math concepts we have been learning.  We will be working in centers and I will need help running those.  If any of you can come in and help during any of those days please let me know.

Thanks for all you do!  You are wonderful and so are your children!

August 13th

Happy First Day of School!  Boy is this a cute class or what?!  Your children are GREAT!  This is going to be a fun year.  Sound off...anything we need to do better?  What worked? What didn't.  Let me know!

I have lost my camera...Just don't know how I always do that.  But we are going to turn our house upside down tonight and hopefully find it so i can post pictures soon.

This week we are just getting used to each other and being at school so no stress on homework.  Next week we will start going full steam ahead.

Hope you all enjoyed your day.  I sure did!  Thanks again for being awesome parents!
