Tail gate party!
Hi everyone,
Tomorrow please send your child at 12:15. They will eat lunch with us, we will have a tail gate party, and we will send them home at 2:30.
If your child rides the bus, they will be picked up by the bus that drops them off at home if they are an AM student, and they will ride their regular bus if they are a PM student. If you normally pick up your child please be there by 2:30.
We are really looking forward to seeing our football players, coaches, cheerleaders and pep band from the high school! It's going to be a great day!
Remember, NO backpacks or folders!

Week 3
Dear parents,
We have had a good time getting to know each other so far, and I so appreciate those of you who have been helping out in the classroom. You are wonderful, thank you!
This week we will be learning how to write our names, hold a book the right way, point to the words in the right direction, counting to 20 and we will continue learning about 2D and 3D shapes. It is going to be a busy week!
Some things to look forward to: September 12 is M&M day. Moms are invited to come and spend time with your child, we will be doing lots of fun activities with M&Ms.
September 20th is Kindergarten night at the dome. We will be doing a football unit, learning how to count while playing football and the unit will culminate with a field trip to the football game! We have been given free tickets for each kindergartner and 1 parent (which doesn't mean that the whole family can't come, we just have 2 free tickete) we will also have our own cheer section at the game! It's going to be so fun!
Please put these events on your calendar so you don't miss out!
For homework this week please work on the flash cards that have been sent home, and read to your child. Don't be discouraged by the flash cards, these are to help your child get to where they need to be by the end of the year. Just a little bit every night will help out a bunch! We will do all we can at school to make sure it happens, but reinforcement at home will be all the better!
Have a wonderful week!

Welcome!
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2013-2014
school year! This is an exciting
time for your child, although he/she may be a little apprehensive about going
to “real” school. This is also a
time of mixed emotions for parents; joy that your child is ready for school,
but sadness because he/she is no longer a “baby”! The first day of school will mark one of the most important
milestones in your child’s life.
Be assured that I will do
my best to make this school year an enjoyable time for your child, but also a
time filled with real learning. We
will spend plenty of time learning those things we are supposed to learn, but we
will also be learning through play.
Play is essential to development and “life skills”. We will also spend time doing a lot of
hands on learning.
I am excited to see your
children and get to know them and you!
This can be a new community for you, if you would like to get
involved.
·
I
will be needing a parent volunteer each day from 9:55-11:05 for AM students, and 2:15-3:20 for PM
students. If you would like to
help us out please sign up at open house for which day you would like.
·
If you would
like to volunteer to be in charge of our Parties, again, please be sure to sign
up at Open House.
·
If you can be
present for field trips you may sign up for those too!
·
We have no PE
teacher available, if you would like to volunteer to teach our PE class on
Thursdays I will need someone at 9:05-9:35 for AM class and 1:05-1:35 for PM
class.
Birthdays are always fun
to celebrate. Treats are welcome
for your child’s special day, however we ask that instead of cupcakes you send
cookies, popsicles, or other small wrapped treat. If you send birthday party invitations to school, please do
not write names on the invitations but have an invitation for each child, that
way we don’t need to spend our precious time handing out invitations and no one
feels left out.
Snacks: We will be asking each of you to
occasionally send in snacks. The
first of the year we will ask you to send in a big box of Gold Fish, or a big
bag of cereal, or other unwrapped snack.
We will also be serving the children a carton of milk.
Schedule: First Day of School is August 12th.
·

trying to get ready for our day.
If you would like to talk I can talk anytime after school or at home. Of

Occupy Kindergarten
I was lucky enough to attend the National Kindergarten Conference in Las Vegas this past week, and was even luckier to attend Kurt Schwengel's session.
Please take the time to listen to his talk here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ye78F4Mnbk
I hope you understand the importance of play and fun in Kindergarten now. I hope to help your child to experience this very type of fun this year!
